This weekend Paul, Sydney and I got around to doing something that I've been meaning to do for the past couple of summers but have never made the time for, the Trout Lake Farmer's Market.
This fabulous market takes place every Saturday all summer long and is well worth the trip, it was filled with awesome vendors, amazing produce and yummy and interesting treats.
We even had the chance to play at the beautiful new playground at the Trout Lake Community Centre.
I could have backed the truck up and loaded up on all the local, fresh produce but managed to contain myself and came home with a flat of raspberries, baby eggplants, zucchinis, mini cukes, kale, rhubarb and fresh apricots.
A kitchen full of fresh raw ingredients inspired me to spend an afternoon in my kitchen. Here's what I came up with:
A Flat of Raspberries |
Became a batch of jam |
A fresh bunch of kale |
Became baked kale chips |
A Couple stalks of rhubarb |
Became a rhubarb crisp |
Some perfectly ripe avocados |
Became homemade guacamole |
Zucchini Pancakes! |
Okanagan apricots |
Had a few raspberries left over too! |
In between shopping and cooking we managed to squeeze in some fabulous time outdoors with Syd. Hit up our local park where she rocked the zip line once again.
Love the sidewalk chalk decorations on the huge rock that sits in the park! I am so bringing Syd's sidewalk chalk with us next time so that she can add to the design.
We had a little picnic and play at the new playground at Lord Kitchener school today as well. Was fun watching Syd play at a new playground, I am always amazed at her agility and skill even on unfamiliar equipment!
Syd did a bit of painting this weekend too, loving her use of bold colour this summer!
