Strawberry Picking
Sydney and I wasted no time in scratching off one of the items on her summer bucket list this afternoon, strawberry picking. We almost narrowly missed local strawberry season by heading to the patch in July, note to self for next year, shoot for the middle of June!
We managed to find a good haul either way, went out to the beautiful Westham Island and visited Bissett Farms this afternoon.
This lovely family farm is located at the Westham Island Winery and has huge patches of strawberries, currants, gooseberries and tayberries this time of year.
Sydney was sensational at picking strawberries, she quickly figured out how to find the reddest, plumpest, most juicy berries and was determined to fill our huge bowl!
Even once I suggested that we had enough berries she kept right on picking...
And then dawdled back to the car through the blueberry patch which will be ripe for the picking in about two weeks.
Sydney ate almost every ripe blueberry she could find. She hasn't touched a blueberry in months, apparently she was waiting for the fresh, local crop to arrive to have her fill!
What a beautiful day it was in the sunny strawberry patch together with my very own personal Strawberry Shortcake!
