Staycation
This has been a simply fabulous weekend! It has literally felt like we've been away on vacation. Between the amazing hot weather, laid back and relaxed days and exploring a new area of the lower mainland every day, it has been one fantastic staycation!
This morning Sydney woke up quite early. We crept out of bed quietly and left Paul sleeping for a while and headed to the backyard in our pajamas to enjoy the cool and fresh summer morning together. It was such a lovely time, the air was crisp and cool but you could already tell that it was going to be a scorcher, even at 7:00 in the morning! Sydney decided that she wanted to paint outside so I hauled her splash mat and paints outside and let her unleash her creativity for a while.
Paul quickly joined us and the three of us enjoyed the morning, cozy in our bathrobes in the backyard. I whipped up a batch of french toast and we ate it outside at the patio table. It was such a lovely way to start our day!
We decided to head to the Ladner Village Market this morning. This incredible market happens only a few times each summer and has dozens of vendors selling everything from freshly grown produce to pottery and handmade wares. Apparently we weren't the only ones who had this same bright idea this morning, the market was absolutely packed with people! It made it a bit challenging to do any shopping and keep track of Sydney with the crowds, but was fun to see never the less!
We came home with one thing, a handmade Dora apron for Sydney which looks absolutely adorable on her! She spotted it from a mile away and asked about a million times if I could buy it for her. I just couldn't resist, and, after all, she does spend a lot of time in the kitchen with me, so we'll be sure to use it a lot!
The afternoon was long and lazy. We had a quick visit with Paul's Mom, came home for lunch and while Paul and Zach went out to spend some time shopping for new furniture for Zach's apartment, Syd and I went to the park and did a quick grocery shop.
I even made my very first gin and tonic with a twist of lime of the season, okay well my first and second of the season, but who's counting!?! It was delicious and refreshing, the perfect summer drink!
I absolutely loved this weekend, it couldn't have been better! What a great staycation we had!
