Canada Day
For the second year in a row, we woke up to a cool and cloudy July 1st! It certainly doesn't feel like summer has arrived in Vancouver! We decided to head down to Granville Island this morning to take in the festivities there. It was fantastic! There were tons of people there, the kids market had special activities set up, and there were performers galore! We grabbed some lunch and sat and listened to Andrea Superstein perform a free outdoor concert for the last day of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
Sydney cracked out her new sweater that Auntie Elaine knitted for her to wear today. It was a tad big, but the colours really went with today's theme!
Every year on Canada Day, our neighbors across the way hang an huge Canadian flag off of their back porch, which Sydney can see from the window seat in her bedroom. She was so excited to see that they had hung it up today when she woke up from her epic three hour nap!
This afternoon actually turned out to be quite lovely and sunny. While Sydney slept, Paul planted a new plant that we got at Southlands Nursery today for our indoor atrium space and trimmed and freshened the rest of the plants. It is looking fantastic!
We also planted the beautiful hydrangea that my friend Christina gave us in our garden. Can't wait to see it bloom in the years to come!
We took advantage of the break in the weather and took Syd out for a long walk tonight and to the park to play. It was a beautiful and fresh evening. I love how relaxed and at ease we all are smack dab in the middle of a long weekend. I am feeling so caught up and in control, my house is clean and organized and I've managed to scratch a few things off of my to do list that have been there for far too long, it's a beautiful thing!
Happy Canada Day!
