Skytrain Saturday
Early this morning, before we had even settled into our breakfast, Zach called to say that he was in the neighborhood and was going to stop by for a visit. Sydney was so excited to see him, it was adorable! I love watching how thrilled she is to see him and the huge hugs and kisses that she showers on him when it's been a while since they've seen each other! His visit got our morning off to such a nice start!
We headed to Main Street first thing today to get Paul a haircut. Sydney and I had such fun wandering in and and out of some very cool little shops on Main while Paul was at the Barber. Syd loves looking at clothing stores, and especially loves shoes. She tried every single pair of kids shoes on at one store before deciding that none of them were for her, very cute!
After Paul's haircut we decided to scratch one of the things off my summer bucket list and took Syd (and Paul!) for their first ever skytrain ride! We parked our car at 25th and Cambie and jumped on the Canada Line at the King Edward station and rode downtown to Waterfront.
Once we got there, we decided it would be fun to take the Seabus over to Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver, so we piled on the boat with everyone and rode across Burrard Inlet. What an absolutely beautiful ride over! The scenery is amazing and you ride right past the huge cruise ships that are docked in Canada Place. It was so breathtaking!
We spent a bit of time wandering around the Quay, checking the shops out and then stopped for lunch at the enormous food fair there! Paul and I enjoyed some yummy grilled sandwiches while Sydney had her favourite summer staple, french fries!
Syd was thrilled to get a big blue helium balloon from a lady handing them out at the Quay. It was so fun to play tourist in our own town and visit North Van for the first time in a very long time!
We rode the Seabus back to Waterfront station and then decided to hop on the Millenium Line skytrain and ride it from start to finish. It was very neat to be able to see the city from this perspective and ride right into the heart of Burnaby and New Westminster before heading back into Vancouver. Half way through our ride poor Sydney passed out in my arms and had a long nap snuggled up with me on the skytrain. Poor kid, riding the rails just tuckered her out!
It was such fun to take Syd on a little adventure right here in our own city! We had such a fun day and really enjoyed the time together!
We came home for a little rest and relaxed for a few hours late this afternoon. As the dinner hour was approaching, I started to get a hankering for Thai food and told Paul that I thought that the fitting way to end our perfect day out together would be to head to the Thai House for dinner. He gladly obliged and we enjoyed heaping plates of Pad Thai and Green Curry Chicken along with a frosty, cold Singha beer. What a great way to end our day!
Sydney wasn't quite ready to come home after our dinner so we took a little stroll along 4th Avenue with her tucked in her stroller. It was an absolutely beautiful evening with the sun starting to set and cooling off for the first time in hours!
What a perfect summer day together, I never wanted it to end!
