Growing
Yesterday morning Sydney woke up, climbed out of bed and I swear she was an inch taller than the night before. She just seemed so much older overnight, somehow. Her face is maturing and her hair is getting longer, most days I have to clip her bangs back with a hair clip which gives her an even more mature look. She is connecting the dots more and more with each passing day, she really, really gets how the world operates. She is growing and changing and coming into her own. It's amazing! She is exactly 32 months old today, can't believe that in four short months she's going to be three!
Syd is really starting to develop a sense of humour. The past couple of days she has gotten a great kick of asking me, at random times throughout the day, "Excuse me? Could you please tell me where the washroom is?" It is hillarious. I have no idea why she is asking, or where in the world she heard the question in the first place, but it is so funny when she asks it, especially during times that are so inappropriate, like when she's sitting on the potty doing her business!
Speaking of which, she is well on her way to being officially potty-trained! Today we went diaper free for pretty much every minute that we were home and she did all of her pees and poos in the potty! I'm hoping to pull the plug on daytime diaper wear all together next week when we have a quiet week together at home and I can really focus on making sure that she's diligent about getting to the bathroom in time. Exciting times around here!
Today was one of those days that crept by slowly, it was a lovely way to end our long weekend. We spent the morning big box shopping, did a Costco run and hit up Home Depot. Sydney was such a good girl for both that we treated her to a happy meal on the way home!
We have taken long walks through the neighborhood everyday this long weekend, I love that we have taken the time to reconnect with the hood and each other! Sydney loves picking flowers when we're out walking. Daddy picked these special pink ones for her the other day and she put them in a cup on her wee table that is sporting her new Bob the Builder place mat that her friend Elly, who works at the toy store, gave her!
Tomorrow Sydney starts a week long morning summer camp at the Jewish Community Centre and our summer round of art classes begin too. It will be nice to have a few things to fill our week after a nice break in routine. I feel rested and refreshed and ready to make some new, fun summer memories over the next couple of months!
Bring on Summer!
