Isla's Snack Bag

It seems hard to believe but in a few short months Sydney will be finished her first full year of school and Kindergarten will be behind her.  Since the new year Sydney's teachers have been hard at work preparing the children for their transition to Grade 1 where they will be at the 'big school' and not necessarily with the exact same group of children in their class.

Sydney's class has taken a couple of field trips up to the main school campus to see the Grade 1 classrooms and experience what life will be like when they get there.

The teachers are also looking for ways for the children from both Kindergarten classes to get to know each other better and one of their ideas was to create a 'snack buddy' for each child.  The snack buddy is a special friend from the other class and each child makes a special snack for the other and trades it on a set day.  Sydney brought home a letter for us from school telling us all about her snack buddy.

Sydney's buddy is the sweetest girl named Isla and so tonight after dinner we spent some time decorating a beautiful snack bag for her in Valentine's theme.

I loved watching how creative Sydney was, drawing and colouring and scrunching up little bits of tissue paper to make flowers on the bag along with glittery stickers.

The end result was fabulous!  Now we just need to figure out what to tuck inside that very special bag to give to Isla next week.

What a sweet idea and a great way for Sydney to foster a new friendship!
