Westham Island
This morning we woke up to a blazing hot Saturday! We thought that we might take Sydney to the pool today and then had a change of heart and decided to head to the blueberry farm on Westham Island.
Sydney and I visited Westham Island a few weeks back when we went to the Reifel Bird Sanctuary and after seeing what a lovely oasis it was, I was dying to take Paul there to see it as well. We had fun driving out, showing Paul all of the cute farms, wineries and sights on the way there.
We arrived at Emma Lea Farms along with a hundred other people, it was super busy today! We headed out to the blueberry patch and were amazed at how many huge blue berries were hanging from the bushes even though it looked like hundreds of people were in the patch already and that they might be well picked over!
Sydney was so into the blueberry picking, she instantly got what she was supposed to do and got to work picking the biggest, juiciest, bluest berries off the bushes and filling our bowl. In under a half hour we had almost ten pounds of blueberries with all three of us working to pick. It was such fun!
After berry picking, we hit up the ice cream stand and enjoyed some ice cream and fresh smoothies made with berries picked off the bushes this morning. So delicous!
It was such a fun way to spend the morning and enjoy the beautiful weather!
We took a drive down the island to the bird sanctuary just so that Paul could see it before we headed home.
While we were at the blueberry farm, Sydney's Auntie Shery texted us to see if we wanted to stop by late this afternoon for a swim in their pool and an early BBQ. It was the perfect way to end our day with a refreshing dip in the pool and a visit with everyone.
What a lovely summer day! I feel blissfully exhausted from the sun and heat but am so looking forward to tomorrow and spending more time soaking up some rays!
