PNE
Sydney and I spent today with our friends Michelle and William taking in the PNE. I have been to the PNE a few times as an adult and have always enjoyed it. It has such a great summer fair kind of feel to it, from the marketplace to the livestock displays, yummy fair food and rides and games.
It was so neat going with Sydney today and seeing the fair through her eyes. It is such a fun place to take kids! It was the perfect day to go today too, not only was admission a mere $5 for Vancity members today, it was also just the perfect temperature and not super busy there so the kids could roam freely without fear of them getting lost or trampled in the huge crowds.
William and Sydney loved looking at the animals, everything from horses and cows, sheep and bunnies, to the more exotic llamas and alpacas.
We watched the pig races, Sydney decided that she wanted to capture the race on film and took a bunch of shots on my iphone, it was very cute!
We had lunch together, enjoyed a basket of deep-fried goodness and then wandered through some displays.
We especially enjoyed the sand sculptures.
We also loved the playhouse challenge, there were a whole bunch of playhouses set up that had been built by volunteers in a friendly competition to see which one got the most votes as the best structure. There were some very neat houses and Syd and William so enjoyed playing in them! Would love to have one of them for our backyard!
It was such a fun way to spend a summer day with the kids! We could have stayed for longer for sure but our munchkins were getting tired and our free parking spot (I know, amazing!) on the street had to be vacated by 3:00pm so we packed up and headed home. The kids dozed in the back seat while we made the drive home, they were tuckered out from all the fun!
If you get the chance to check out the PNE over the next week or so while it's on, do it! You'll have a blast!
