Happy Birthday Sydney!

My little girl is two years old today.  Two whole years have gone by since the moment I first held her teeny tiny body in my arms for the first time, seems hard to believe.  I don't know if it was my imagination, or just the thought of her being two, but somehow today she just seemed so much older.  There is no longer any trace of my baby, in her place is this incredibly sweet, capable and funny little girl.  She is very proud of the fact that she can say "two".  Several times today on the phone with family who were calling to wish her a happy birthday she said it loud and clear.  Yes indeed, my baby is TWO!

Sydney shares her birthday with her little friend Declan who was born on the exact same day as her!  Declan's Mom threw him a fabulous art themed birthday party today so we spent most of our day enjoying visiting with friends at Declan's party.  We had a fantastic time!  Declan's Mom, Rachel, had covered all of the basement walls in brown paper and set up a whole bunch of different art stations all throughout where the kids could paint, stamp, finger paint, do playdough, make hats...it was amazing!  We were greeted with this sign at the bottom of the stairs:

There was a basket of blank canvases, each child was meant to take one and create their own masterpiece.  Sydney loved painting with the paint blotters and she and I made this very cool hat together at the hat making station:

It was such a cool activity for the kids, they had tons of fun and came home with custom made souvenirs, fabulous!

Rachel had Kiss Catering cater the party, the food was amazing, delicious sandwiches and salads, fruit and tons of great treats for the kids. The kids even got to use Frisbee plates, it was awesome! The caterer made all of us lattes and served wine and champagne with the cake and cupcakes that Rachel's Mom made.  Such service!  The Moms loved it and we had a wonderful visit together.

Syd came home with this goody bag filled with some new art supplies, body and face crayons, oil pastels and a box of crayons along with some bubbles and jelly beans.  We spent some time this afternoon sitting in our atrium blowing bubbles together, it was a great memory!

It was so nice to spend Sydney's actual birthday day with friends.  She was such a good girl all day today despite the fact that she skipped her nap all together.  Guess she didn't want to miss a minute of her big day!  We ended the day off with a trip to Bubbie's house for a visit and she gave Syd this very cool Little People Fairy Treehouse.

Sydney really loves it, especially the swing part, she's quite fond of swings!  In fact on the way home from Declan's party today we stopped at the park just so that she could have a swing as when I asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday yesterday she said "Swing!"

It was a lovely day with my little sweetie, we are looking forward to celebrating with her little friends this weekend at her party.

Happy Birthday Syd, I love you!!
