Father's Day

What a fantastic day we had for Father's Day today!  We all decided to have a little sleep-in, which, for me, couldn't have come at a better time!  I so enjoyed having a few extra moments of sleep this morning.  Shortly after we got up, Sydney toddled out of bed and loudly announced "Happy Father's Day Daddy!"  It was priceless!

Sydney made Daddy a very special present at school last week for Father's Day, homemade sugar cookies cut into the shape of cars and wrapped in tissue paper with a little poem tied around them.  It was so so sweet.  She gave them to Dad this morning along with a sweater and golf shirt.

I made Paul one of his favourite breakfasts ever today, lox and bagels.  We enjoyed a nice time together having breakfast while listening to the rain pelt down outside.  The weather was a bit disappointing, I have to say.  Just as I was brainstorming what we could do together on such a rainy day, like magic, the clouds parted and the sun came out!  So we packed up the car and headed to Granville Island.

It was beautiful!  We sat in the sun while Syd fed the birds and did a bit of shopping.  So relaxing!

We decided to head to Main Street this afternoon for their annual 'Car Free Day' street festival.  It was so cool, seventeen city blocks were shut down to traffic and in it's place was bands, food trucks, vendors and hundreds of people enjoying it all!  Sydney loved getting free helium balloons, cotton candy and popcorn!

We stopped at Helen's Grill to grab some lunch.  This restaurant is an institution on Main Street and is an old school diner in every sense of the word!  They even have little individual jukeboxes on each table!

We stopped by to see Paul's barber, Mike, too!

This evening we headed to our friends Sally and Allan's house for a Father's Day barbecue.  They made the most delicious steaks and we so enjoyed visiting with them and our friends Michelle and Iain.  Sydney was quite thrilled to try out Ollie's runner bike and, with Allan's help, was zooming around on it in no time!  Very sweet!

It was a very special day together celebrating Father's Day!  There are many, many things that I love about Paul, but close to the top of the list is how great a Dad he is to both Zach and Sydney.  Happy Father's Day Love!  xo
