June Bloom

It is June.  There is no denying it.  It is feeling warmer and more like summer every day and we are easing our way out of a rapid schedule and into summer mode around here.

We started our week off with Sydney's Kindergarten orientation, a 'Popsicles and Playdate' time where the girls met at the school playground, ate popsicles and had the chance to meet their teachers, fellow students and their families.

The girls were also assigned classes and Sydney is proud to be an "apple" this year in the upstairs classroom with two very fun, young teachers.

We left the playtime with a very special gift, a handmade gym strip bag with Sydney's initials embroidered on it, which was lovingly made by a grade eight student at her school,  and a stuffed tiger, which is the school mascot.

Sydney was thrilled to have a new stuffie and Mom was thrilled that she had the chance to chat individually with each of her lovely new teachers.  Helps to take the sting out of the inevitable goodbye that is coming later this month at preschool!

We got together this week with a few of Sydney's closest friends from prechool to make a special gift for her teachers.  We met at Cowboys and Angels and hand painted beautiful bowls for Jen and Carmen and then had each girl do their handprint on the inside of the bowl.  It looked so great and will make such a lovely, thoughtful gift for the end of the year.

Sydney's usual horseback riding instructor is on vacation right now so we had a lesson this week with Victoria, another wonderful trainer at Southlands Farm.

Sydney enjoyed her ride on Bailey and practiced trotting again!

The other night after dinner Sydney asked me if I could open the front door for her as she wanted to set up for a show on the front porch.

After a few minutes of preparation Daddy and I were beckoned to find Sydney all set up to sing and dance and put on the sweetest performance ever!

Today and tomorrow are holidays from preschool for Shavuot.  Sydney and I have decided to host one last hurrah tea party for her best girlfriends from school.

My sister found the most amazing set of antique china at a garage sale for Sydney and I to use for tea parties, we had so much fun unpacking it and setting the table up today in anticipation of our guests tomorrow.

I did a little gardening today, finally got our geraniums planted for the season!  They really brighten up the backyard.

Sydney's little garden is growing like crazy already, looks like we may have ourselves a little pumpkin for Halloween if her pumpkin plant keeps going this strong!

Sydney and Alexa took a little walk today and came home with some cherries that they'd found on the ground under a cherry tree and some beautiful little purple flowers.  Sydney promptly set about making the most beautiful display in a vase with them!  Loved it!

Sydney and I enjoyed a little soak in the sun this afternoon on the patio at McDonalds after her art class.  I'm loving these long days together!
