Wet Weekend

It feels as if it has been raining for 72 hours straight.  Ah January in Vancouver, you can always count on it to be a duck's paradise!

We had a pretty quiet weekend all around, spent lots of time at home getting chores done and cooking some yummy comfort food.

This morning we met up with several of Sydney's preschool buddies to celebrate the 3rd birthday of her friend Jules.  The party was at Phoenix Gymnastics where I took Sydney for her gym classes from the time she was a baby.  It was so fun to see one of our old coaches and for Sydney to play in familiar space!

I was amazed at how skilled Sydney was at the rings and uneven bars!  She loves hanging and dangling off things!  It's a new experience for me to be in the gym with her without having to trail her around at every station too, she is so competent and capable now that she hardly needs me for a thing, she can adeptly navigate her way around the gym all on her own!

After playing for an hour the kids piled into the party room for snacks and cake.

Sydney left with a loot bag filled with a beautiful new tiara, bouncy balls, glow in the dark rings and some candy.

She loved the tiara and even wore it to lunch at Whitespot with me after the party!

We managed to pull off another Shabbat dinner on Friday night, even made our own challah from scratch!

While I was cooking dinner I let Sydney open up a set of Lego that she had received for her birthday from her friend Marcus.  She loved it, played with it for over an hour and then asked me if she could build a centerpiece for our Shabbat dinner table.

It was very cute!  Zach came by for a visit to see us during dinner which Syd was most excited about too.  I'm loving that a new tradition has been born in our household!

Hope you had a warm winter's weekend!
