A Gift from Auntie Brandie
The morning that we left for Hawaii, exactly as it happened the year before, the mailman knocked on our door and delivered us a parcel full of Christmas gifts from my best friend Brandie.
Brandie and I have known each other since preschool and have remained best friends ever since. We have seen each other through pretty much everything that life could throw our way, broken hearts, lost parents, moving far away, getting married, having kids, getting un-married, finding ourselves. We have a history that time will never be able to tear apart.
Brandie lives in the town where we both grew up, Burns Lake, with her two sweet boys Mikey and Joey. Even though we don't see each other any more than once a year and really don't even get the chance to talk on the phone very often, we somehow have this deep connection. I especially felt that when Brandie's package arrived on the morning we were leaving for Hawaii two years in a row, without her knowing the exact day we were meant to leave on holidays. Now that's kismet!
Brandie sent a beautiful package of things for Sydney, a cute little stuffed pink kitty, a checkered scarf, a warm fleecy hat and mitten set and a handmade brooch from her sweet Joey. Sydney uses that checkered scarf as a blanket for her babies, I find it literally everywhere I find a group of her dolls, their legs neatly covered with her new blankie, very sweet indeed!
Brandie also sent the most beautiful photo cards and two amazing scarves for me, she is so thoughtful in every way!
It was a lovely note to start our trip on, receiving this very special package. Sydney and I sat in the living room ripping open each individually wrapped item with delight and thinking about how much we love Brandie and her boys.
It was a very special gift indeed!
