A Trip to Seattle
Sydney and I just got home from a little girl's getaway south of the line. We spent two days and one night in Seattle and had the best time together enjoying a fun and exciting time away!
We took our time driving down, stopped at Trader Joe's for a grocery run and then on to Olive Garden in Burlington for lunch, Sydney's favourite, just for the full experience of being in the states!
We arrived in Seattle mid afternoon and headed straight to the Children's Museum. This sweet museum is a fun, interactive place with lots of space for the kids to explore, role play and do crafts.
One of our favourite sections was the marketplace which was set up like a real grocery shop would be, the kids wheeled little shopping carts around and filled them with food before having the chance to scan their own groceries and check out.
Sydney loved going from room to room and checking out this very cool space!
The Children's Museum is located at the Seattle Centre which is based around the Space Needle. We wandered around the area enjoying the beautiful, sunny day before heading to our hotel to check in.
We stayed overnight at the very chic and sophisticated Hotel Andra in downtown Seattle and we were delighted when we got a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe suite when we arrived.
Sydney loved that we had our own bedroom and she promptly claimed the huge desk as her own space to spread out.
We realized shortly after arriving that our hotel was just a few blocks from the Pike Place Market so we took a stroll there and admired all of the beautiful flowers, produce and goods for sale.
Syd brought her camera with her and took dozens of pictures of the beautiful flowers and produce, it was very cute!
Sydney was dying to take a bouquet of flowers home with her so we managed to find one to keep with everlasting dried straw flowers, which she loved!
Syd spotted a giant ferris wheel, the Seattle Great Wheel, while we were wandering down by the water so we decided to go on a little adventure and ride it.
What an incredible view! Syd loved being high up in the sky and excitedly pointed out all sorts of fun things that she could see as she toddled back and forth within the gondola. Momma clutched tightly to her seat realizing that although I have outgrown many of my irrational childhood fears, heights apparently is not one of them!
What a gorgeous ride!
We discovered a great spot to have dinner, at the Fisherman's Restaurant at the base of the ferris wheel and sat on the deck overlooking the ocean basking in the sun together. It was amazing and our favourite memory of our trip together! The food was pretty delicious too!
We strolled back to our hotel stopping at a few shops along the way to pick up a few fun things for Sydney. Especially loved the City Target!
After a restful night's sleep we woke early the next morning and walked down a few blocks to the Five Points Cafe for a greasy spoon breakfast together.
Then we hopped in the car and headed to the Woodland Park Zoo. This amazing space has created such an incredible habitat for the animals to roam freely and for amazing viewing!
We especially loved the African Savannah and all the animals there!
Plus a ton of other creatures to behold!
Sydney enjoyed a carousel ride on their historic carousel before we called it a day, what a special place that we'd love to visit again!
No trip to the states would be complete without a little shopping, so we spent a few hours at the Seattle Premium Outlets on the way home picking up some great deals along the way.
What a special time away together with my girl, the first of many I hope!
